Until He Can't

Morning reflections on I Samuel 17

The Enemy holds his ground.

Morning by morning,

Night after night,

His tactics stay the same.

Words of DERISION—

of your hopeless situation,

Words of DISGRACE—

of your weakness, your failures.

Words of DEFIANCE—

against the Lord God Almighty.

The Enemy holds his ground.

Morning by morning,

Night after night,

He stands proudly,

He scoffs loudly,

He despises and defies—

sneering, jeering, condemning.

Morning by morning,

Night after night,

He spews his hellish lies—

his fear-inducing,

dismay-producing,

paralyzing "truths."

Yes,

The Enemy holds his ground.

Until. . .

A servant, so bold—

one so fixed,

one so sure,

Stops him.

Until

You speak and declare,

You testify and proclaim.

Until

His presence and his deceptions

Crumble in destruction,

Collapse in defeat.

Until

Morning by morning,

Night after night,

You wield the deadliest weapon in your possession—

the TRUTHS of God's Declared Word,

Yes,

The Enemy holds his ground.

Until. . .

He can’t.
